Smileys2Emoticons - Display Emoticons in Your Guestbook!
Emoticons are very popular in the Internet these days. It seems like now every forums, mailing lists and guestbook support emoticons in their pages. If you write such applications, why not add them too?
The basic concept is simple, all you need to do is replace smileys tags with the appropriate icons. For example, replace all :) with <img src="img/smile.gif" border="0" alt=":)" />.
Or download smileys2emoticons now and have emoticons enabled in your pages! It converts smileys tags to Yahoo! emoticons:
| Tags | Icons | Meaning | Tags | Icons | Meaning |
| ;) | winking | :| | straight face | ||
| :D | big grin | =)) | rolling on the floor | ||
| :-/ | confused | :-c | call me | ||
| 8-> | daydreaming | :)] | on the phone | ||
| :P | tongue | :-? | thinking | ||
| :-* | kiss | #o | doh! | ||
| :-O | surprise | :-w | waiting | ||
| X( | angry | :) | smile | ||
| B-) | cool | :( | sad | ||
| >:) | devil | :(( | crying | ||
| :)) | laughing | (:| | yawn |
It is also possible to have themes for displaying emoticons. Create a directory for each theme, like:
img/yahoo
img/msn
img/misc
Then use the icon for selected theme:
<img src="img/yahoo/smile.gif" border="0" alt=":)" />
<img src="img/msn/smile.gif" border="0" alt=":)" />
<img src="img/misc/smile.gif" border="0" alt=":)" />
